Commemoration of 77 years of the deportation of the Macedonian Jews

The program for this year was reduced and adjusted in line with the recommendation of the Government for not holding mass events due to the coronavirus. The ceremony of laying of flowers in the Monopoly, where the Jews from Macedonia were gathered in 1943, was attended by delegations of official representatives of the Jewish community and the Holocaust Fund. The delegations also laid flowers at the Jewish Cemetery in Butel, where the President of the Jewish Community in Macedonia – Mrs.Berta Romano - Nikolic, addressed the audience. Although the visiting and laying of flowers at the Holocaust monuments in Bitola and Shtip was opened only to the community members, there was a self-initiative by the Mayors of Bitola and Shtip, as well as from members of the municipal councils, directors and other citizens, who voluntarily joined the activities.
