The exhibition "NEW WITNESSES OF THE HOLOCAUST" opened in the Holocaust Memorial Center of the Jews of Macedonia
As part of the celebration of the 72nd anniversary of the deportation of the Jews from Macedonia, the exhibition "NEW WITNESSES OF THE HOLOCAUST" was opened on March 10 at the Holocaust Memorial Center of the Jews from Macedonia. The Holocaust Fund of the Jews of Macedonia has been part of the international project "New Witnesses to the Holocaust" for four years. The project is a joint venture with the Yad Vashem Memorial Center in Israel and the Ministry of Public Diplomacy and the Jewish Diaspora of the State of Israel.
For the past three years, the headquarters of this project was Macedonia, and in 2014 the project expanded its borders and was realized in Romania, so this time the project was joined by the Institute for Holocaust Studies "Eli Wiesel" from Romania.
The art colony, which in addition to the goal is to create works of art, also contains educational lessons dedicated to the Holocaust and the history of the Jews from Macedonia and the Balkans. Busteni, was the city that opened its doors and created new witnesses, new works of art, which today are testimonies dedicated to the past, but with a message for the future.
The sufferings of the Jewish people during the Second World War are part of those dark events that the human mind can hardly accept and understand, and are also the leading story and goal for organizing this art colony through which we create new storytellers, witnesses of the holocaust.
The works of art take us back to the horrific events and the act of terror of the Holocaust, but every time we see them they give us new hope, and besides through their drawn stories we notice a sincere wish and a strong message that this crime should never happen again.
