Memorandum of Cooperation signed between the Holocaust Fund of the Jews from Macedonia, the Municipality of Shtip and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Macedonia


Today in Shtip a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Holocaust Fund of the Jews from Macedonia, the Municipality of Shtip and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Macedonia, in the presence of the ambassador of the State of Israel in the Republic of Macedonia, Dan Orian.

The cooperation includes construction of access road to the Jewish graveyards, putting of monument and reconstruction and conservation of the Jewish graveyards.

In accordance with the Memorandum, the Memorandum, the Municipality of Shtip pledged to build a road and bring electricity to the Jewish graveyards as well as to provide custodian protection and maintenance service. The installation of two entry doors, behaton tiles, construction of monument, cameras and fencing with metal fence will be provided by the Holocaust Fund of the Jews from Macedonia together with the Jewish Community in the Republic of Macedonia.

The Ministry of Culture will do the conservation of the Jewish graveyards through the National Institution for Protection of the Cultural Monuments and Museum – Shtip, in accordance with the project adopted by the Authority for Protection of the Cultural Heritage and the relevant conservation certificate that was issued, in accordance with the Law on Protection of the Cultural Heritage.

This cooperation has cultural and historical significance, which will contribute towards preservation of the remembrance of the culture, history and life of the Jews in Shtip.
