Exhibition on “Deportation of the Jews from Macedonia to Treblinka– 1943“ in the Treblinka museum
Delegation from the Holocaust Fund of the Jews from Macedonia and the Holocaust Memorial Center for the Jews of Macedonia officially opened on the 3rd of April 2016 the exhibition on “Deportation of the Jews from Macedonia to Treblinka– 1943“ in the Treblinka museum in Treblinka, Poland.
This exhibition is creation of the Holocaust Memorial Center for the Jews of Macedonia and it was presented to the Polish public thanks to the organization efforts by the Holocaust Memorial Center for the Jews of Macedonia, the Embassy of the Republic of Macedonia in Warsaw and the Museum in Treblinka. The opening remarks were delivered by the Director of the museum in Treblinka, Mr.Edvard Kopovka, acting Ambassador in the Embassy of the Republic of Macedonia in Warsaw, Mrs. Gorica Atanasova-Gjorevska and the Deputy President of the Management Board of the Holocaust Fund of the Jews from Macedonia, Mrs.Martina Antic.
The guests included the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Warsaw, representatives of the Ukraine Embassy in Warsaw, representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Bulgarian Cultural Center in Warsaw as well as high representatives from the local self-government. Following the initial opening, the delegation on behalf of the Holocaust Fund of the Jews from Macedonia and the Jewish Community in the Republic of Macedonia laid flowers at the monument of Holocaust victims from Macedonia (stone with writing ‘Macedonia’), and at the main monument of the Treblinka victims. The representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Bulgarian Cultural Center in Warsaw also laid flowers in front of the main monument. The local rabbi, Mr.Joshua Elis recited the Shoa Prayer (Holocaust) as well as the El Male Rahamim prayer.
The exhibition was available to the public for two months.
