The Holocaust Memorial Center of the Jews from Macedonia hosted a book promotion event on 3rd of May 2019 – “Casebook on bioethics and the Holocaust” by Tessa Chelouche and Geoffrey Brahmer. The book was translated into Macedonian by Mr.Mitko Pishtolov and was published by the Holocaust Fund of the Jews from Macedonia and the Center for Integrative Bioethics at the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje.

Welcoming addresses were given by the Director of the Holocaust Memorial Center of the Jews from Macedonia, Mr.Goran Sadikarijo and the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Prof. Ratko Duev Ph.D. The book was promoted by Prof.Dejan Donev Ph.D. and Prof.Ana Frichand Ph.D. Tessa Chelouche M.D. also spoke about her work. As one of the authors of this book, she arrived in Macedonia specifically for this occasion.

Another event taking place on the same day was the forum discussion on a topic covered by the “Casebook on bioethics and the Holocaust”. Introduction was given by Prof.Dejan Donev Ph.D. from the Center for Integrative Bioethics at the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje, Department for Bioethics at UNESCO: “A prolegomenon for the Macedonian Jewish studies: History and memory“. The attendees also heard from Mr.Naum Trajanovski M.A. who is a Ph.D. candidate at the Institute for Sociology and Philosophy from the Polish Academy of Sciences, scholar at the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje, University “Ss.Cyril and Methodius”, “Casebook on Bioethics and the Holocaust: Teaching lessons from the past for future healthcare professionals”. Especially interesting was the address by Tessa Chelouche M.D. from the Department for Bioethics and Holocaust, Department for Bioethics at UNESCO, Haifa University. The forum was closed with discussion and final remarks.
