Commemoration of Yom HaShoah and official opening of the “Holocaust through the eyes of the children” exhibition


The Holocaust Fund of the Jews from Macedonia and the Jewish Community in the Republic of Macedonia commemorated Yom HaShoah – the Day of Remembrance of the uprising of the Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto in 1943 and of the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust.

The commemoration event took place in the Holocaust Memorial Center of the Jews from Macedonia, in the former Jewish quarter, with program that started with laying flowers at the monument of the deported Jews located on the plateau of the Memorial Center. The Secretary General of the Jewish Community, Ms. Jana Nichota, addressed the participants and the six memorial candles were lit by the President of the Holocaust Fund of the Jews, Mr. Blagoja Mladenovski.

The “Holocaust through the eyes of the children” exhibition was also opened. It is part of the school project with the same name in which the children were painting, writing literature and were developing short documentaries. The exhibition was opened by the coordinator of the project, Mrs. Maja Susha and all 65 artistic works created by the pupils will be opened to the public until the end of May.
