Celebrating the International Museum Day and the European Museum Night 2019
The Holocaust Memorial Center of the Jews from Macedonia joined the event “International Museum Day and European Museum Night” for the first time with aim to bring closer to the wider public the museums as exceptionally important cultural institutions.
The program for this event in the Holocaust Memorial Center of the Jews from Macedonia included a number of activities aimed at different age groups: “Separately and together in the Jewish culture and tradition”. The topic this year that united all the activities in the museums was The museums as cultural centers: the future of the tradition.
The children were acquainted with the Jewish culture through a workshop for making clay objects symbolizing the Jewish culture. This included pupils from the 7th grade from “Petar Pop Arsov” elementary school under mentorship of their professors Daniela Shterjova and Miroslav Najdoski. Closing event of the school project “The Holocaust through the eyes of the children” was also organized and included pupils from all over the country that actively participated in the artistic, literature and digital content competitions organized within the project.
Final event and promotion of the mobile app The hidden gems of the Old Skopje Bazaar were also organized, including lecture on Creative industries and tourism by Prof.Ivanka Apostolova.
The documentary movie “Who will write our history?” was also screened during the program, on the 20th of May, directed by Roberta Grossman and Nancy Spielberg.
