The book promotional event "The Phoenix of Recusancy" by Victor Gaber took place on 24 December 2019 at the Holocaust Memorial Center of the Jews from Macedonia. In this book, the author covers the period of Jewish settlement in the Balkans, the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire, and the Jewish question in Macedonia, through the Holocaust and the victory over the fascism, with a focus on the post-war organization of Jews with particular emphasis on the image of the first president of the first postwar Jewish community – Gjorgji Blaer. The final chapter of this book elaborates on the role of the Jewish community in the Macedonian society thus completing the full picture of the destiny of the devastated community and its resurrection. The participants were addressed by Mr.Goran Sadikarijo - Director of the Holocaust Fund and Mrs.Bertha Romano Nikolic - President of the Jewish Community in Macedonia. The book was discussed by Ambassador Jovan Tegovski and Prof. Miso Dokmanovic Ph.D. The author of the book, Mr.Victor Gaber, also addressed the participants. The book is published by the Holocaust Fund of the Jews from Macedonia, marking the 75th anniversary of the renewal of the work of the Jewish community in Macedonia.
